Environment Friendly Packaging Materia:
• AIR PILLOWS MADE OF RECYCLED MATERIALS: Inflatable air pillows are another great
eco- and cost-saving alternative to Styrofoam or bubble wrap. These are available in a variety
of sizes and are ideal for filling voids in boxes / providing cushioning around packed items.
They also act as filler to complete the packaging inside the corrugated boxes. They can be
reused, recycled, and are even biodegradable. But procurement of air pillows should be made
of 100 percent recycled materials with biodegradability after use.
• MUSHROOM PACKAGING: Another form of economical and eco-friendly packaging
alternative which can be used to support smaller items. Not only does this material avoid
petroleum and food sources for its raw material, but it also biodegrades faster which doesn’t
harm the environment.
• CORN STARCH PACKAGING: Cornstarch is an organic material that has made in-roads into
the eco-friendly packaging industry. Derived from the corn or maize plant, it has plastic-like
properties, which can be used in many contexts that have traditionally relied upon plastics.
These are more environment friendly and sustainable alternative to petroleum based
packaging.
• Organic Materials: These are the most relevant alternative to plastic bags in the industry. An
eco-friendly alternative is organic fabrics for reusable bags. There are a bunch of different
organic fabrics on the market now including hemp, organic or recycled cotton, tapioca, palm
leaves, and many more.
